Fr. Emmanuel is on loan to our parish from the Diocese of Forte-Liberté in Haiti.
Meet Fr. Emmanuel:
Hello! I am Fr Emmanuel Fénélus, and I am from Haiti (in the Caribbean). I was born in Trou-du-Nord (Northeast of Haiti). I see myself as a free man, calm but joyful, humble, loyal, fraternal, an involved servant, open, respectful, and always ready to learn.
I completed my elementary and secondary education in my hometown from 1992 to 2007. After completing a propaedeutic program in Cap-Haitian (North), I moved to the South where I obtained a certificate in Philosophy and a bachelor’s degree in Theology, both at Grand Séminaire Notre-Dame d’Haiti (Port-au-Prince, the Capital of Haiti). I was ordained deacon on January 16th, 2016, then priest on June 4th of the same year.
Since then, I ministered for two years in the Notre-Dame de la Deliverance parish (Fort-Liberté, Haiti) as a vicar. I was also the diocesan chaplain of a movement called MEJ (Mouvement Eucharistique des Jeunes / Eucharistic Youth Movement), which brings youth of the diocese from five to eighteen years old.
I ministered for seven months in another parish (Notre-Dame de Lourdes in Grand Bassin, Haiti) until I came to the USA to pursue my graduate studies in Moral Theology (MA) with a concentration in Bioethics. Thus, since August 2019, I have been living on the Campus of Holy Apostles College and Seminary (Cromwell, CT) as a student-priest and priestly formator.
Regarding my interests, I enjoy reading, writing, volunteering, fitness activities, films (historical, documentary, musical, and science fiction), literature, music, and hiking.
